Powell, Walter Earl,
90, of LaGrange, KY, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Sellersburg, IN.
He was born on July 20, 1924 to the late Robert and Gertrude Powell.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters: Muriel Anderson and Bonnie Kneffler.
He was a lifelong resident of Oldham County and a member of LaGrange Christian Church. He was a U.S. Marine during World War II, worked for L & N Railroad for 18 years and retired from the Kentucky State Reformatory after 28 years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Mings Powell; daughters: Karen Price (Virgil), Brenda Ward (Timothy) and Melinda Thompson (Eric); grandchildren: Ashlee Alstott (Jeff), Dylan Ward, Jordan Price (Rosie), Jessica Sookal (Darren) and Logan Price; and a great granddaughter, Amelia Rose Price and another great-grandchild expected next year.
with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
