Virginia White

White, Virginia (Straughn), 95, of Westport, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

Virginia was born on September 30, 1928, in Westport, KY to the late Samuel L. and Gladys H. Straughn. She was employed by Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky as an environmental aid. Through the years of her employment, at Suburban Hospital, she advanced to a surgery technician, and retired as a surgical secretary. After retiring, she and her husband would spend their summers in Kentucky and their winters in Florida. Her summers in Kentucky, she spent her time riding her tractor and raking hay. She loved her farm. Her winters in Florida, she spent fishing for crappie and loved riding the pontoon to count how many alligators she could find sunning. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Phillip A. White; sisters, Margorie Hartmann, Margaret Cox, Alice Straughn and Wanda Burton; brothers, Bush Straughn and Sam Straughn. Left to cherish Virginia are sons, Ron Waller (Jill), Mike Waller (Pam); daughters, Connie Kelly (Jerry), Tracy Richards (Alex) and Hope Pence; sisters, Edith Callis, Nancy Bell, and Dorothy Roberts; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Funeral Home; 11601 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, KY 40241; Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 2PM – 7PM and Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 9AM until the funeral service at 11AM with burial to follow.
