A life well lived came to its earthly end on March 1, 2021 for Timothy James Jackson, EdD, age 74. He was born on January 18, 1947 to Mabel and Clyde Jackson. Tim grew up in Ashland, Kentucky and graduated from Paul Blazer High School in 1965. He attended Kentucky Southern College in Louisville, Kentucky on a basketball scholarship. There he met and married the love of his life, Paula Gayle Davis. They were married on May 4, 1968. He began teaching and coaching at Ballard High School but spent his remaining educational career with Oldham County Public Schools as assistant principal of OCHS, principal at SOMS and retired as assistant superintendent. Tim continued his career for seven more years in Kentucky state government as the Deputy Secretary for the Cabinet for Families and Children. His entire professional life was devoted to helping kids who needed encouragement, teachers who needed a compliment, social workers who needed someone to hear and act on their concerns, and to be a champion for the poor and disadvantaged.Alongside his successful career, his priorities were never in question. His family was the light of his life always. He made it to every game, but cared more about having fun and good character than the performance. He was an ever-present father and grandfather, evidenced by the way he listened and made us laugh. One of his favorite quotes by Joan Macintosh, “Accept the pain, cherish the joys, resolve the regrets; then can come the best of benedictions – if I had my life to live over, I’d do it all the same.” He lived each day to his fullest, always looking for the joy. Some of his last words were, “I have lived a great life”.He was a remarkable man who left an impression on all who met him. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paula, three children Paul (Leslie), Kristie Lindemier (Trever), Shannon Lampton (Richie) and seven grandchildren Claire (17), Caroline (15), Turner (14), Chase (12), Carlee Ann (12), Savannah (11), Natalie (10).Visitation to be held at Northeast Christian Church, 9900 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY 40241 on Thursday March 4 from 5:00-8:00 pm.
