Theodore Henry King Clark
October 7, 1957 – December 21, 2023
Theodore Henry King Clark passed on to the next life on December 21, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 66.
He was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on October 7, 1957, the first child of Thomas Henry King and Elizabeth Ann née Bass. His parents divorced several years later and Elizabeth “Betty” married Barry Clark. Ted lived with his family in Pasadena, CA; Green Bank, WV; Charlottesville, VA and Socorro, NM.

Ted’s passion was learning. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from BYU, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard, a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from Harvard and a Law degree from Concord Law School.  In his professional life, Ted was a Management Consultant with McKinsey and Company and then a Professor of Business and Information Systems at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  He was universally respected by his colleagues, beloved by his students, and received countless commendations for his excellence in teaching.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ted served a 2 year mission in the Pittsburgh, PA Mission. He served faithfully in many Church callings throughout his life.

Ted married Catherine Joyce Hatch on September 8, 1982.  He is survived by his wife, Catherine, his six children: Emily Sorensen (married to Ben), Michael Clark (married to Regina), Elizabeth Perry (married to David), Eliza Kofford (married to Ryan), Matthew Clark, Emerald Clark and 13 grandchildren.  He is also survived by his father, Barry Clark, and siblings Doree Donovan, Bill Clark, Marin Clarkberg and Pamela (King) Zilch.
Ted made friends easily and deeply cared about people.  He was known for his quick wit and creative “Dad jokes.”  Ever the teacher, he was eager to give counsel and advice to family, friends, students and even to people he’d just met.

Ted was a loving husband, father and friend. His light and legacy will continue on in the lives of those he inspired.
