Thelma Murphy

Thelma J. Murphy, age 87, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on August 7, 2022. Thelma was born in Stanford, Kentucky on June 9, 1935, to the late Alonzo Robert Castle and Grace Thompson Castle. Married to  Wallace Murphy in 1952, at the tender age of 17, together they built a wonderful life and raised four children.

Thelma successfully operated her own business Sparrow Drive Antique Mall in Shepherdsville for approximately 20 years making numerous life long friends along the way.

She was a faithful member of Eastern Gate Baptist, which she dearly loved..

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace P. Murphy, Sr., son, Wallace P. Murphy, Jr. and sister, Norma Holt.

Thelma is survived by her children, Donnie Murphy (Janie), Brenda Fox (Jimmy Denney) Kevin Murphy (Tammy),  and daughter-in-law, Karen Murphy; siblings, Robert,  Alonzo, Bill, Jerry, Ann, and Jenny; fourteen grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday August 11 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm with funeral services  at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 11601 Ballardsville Road.
