Joyce Ann Lay Gipson

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence L. Gipson; granddaughter, Sydney Elaina Horsley; and brother, Norman Leon Lay.

Joyce is survived by two daughters, Melanie Gipson Phillips, Stephanie Gipson Horsley (Floyd); six grandchildren, Jacob Phillips (Madeline), Catherine Richardson, Joshua Phillips (Courtney), Abigail Phillips (Aaron), Owen and Scarlett Horsley; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Burkhardt (John) and Debra Whiting; one brother, Darrell Lay (Kellye); two sister-in-laws, Reba Lay and Temple Rogers; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joyce was a longtime member of Crestwood Baptist Church and spent her life serving the Lord. She enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping, and was happiest spending time with family and friends. Her laugh was infectious and would light up a room. Joyce will be remembered most for her constant unwavering love, loyalty, graciousness, hospitality, and selflessness.

A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday, December 31 at 11:00 am at Louisville Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home East 11601 Ballardsville Rd. (Hwy 22), Louisville, KY 40241 with visitation from 2-8 pm on Friday as well as prior to the funeral from 9:30 am until the service. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the American Heart Association.
