June 9, 1935 — November 6, 2015

Long, Larry "Digger",

In the early morning hours of November 6, 2015, the world lost an amazing man, Larry "Digger" Long, 80, of Louisville. Larry was born in Kansas City, Missouri where he attended Wentworth Military Academy. After his stay here, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army. Larry lived in Mississippi for a time, where he discovered his passion for flying and became a crop-dusting pilot. He was the previous owner and operator of Louisville Memorial Gardens East & West. Larry was a man with a huge heart, a permanent smile upon his face and a great sense of humor that could make anyone laugh at their fullest. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. Larry is survived by his three daughters, Denise D. Schneider, Lisa C. Wilt and Monica M. Reed, as well as seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his "namesake" Joe Joe. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy D. Long.

A service celebrating Larry's life will be held 10:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2015 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy.
