Joe Morris Ouellette

April 18, 1936 — July 29, 2023

Joe Morris Ouellette, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, Kentucky July 29, 2023. He was born on April 18, 1936 in Missoula, Montana. Joe is survived and will be missed by his loving wife Patricia Ouellette, his daughter Lori Houston (Hatch), his son Jim Ouellette, his granddaughter Ashley Houston, and his cousins Randy Evans and Marie Evans and all the Evans family. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Violet and George Ouellette, and Joe Evans.

Joe's journey in life was marked by admirable accomplishments and a profound impact on those around him. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce in 1965, and went on to dedicate 35 years of his career to management at Ford Motor Company before retiring at the age of 55. His commitment and dedication to his work left an indelible mark on the company and served as an inspiration to many.

Joe's sense of humor and zest for life endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a remarkable ability to find joy in every situation and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Joe's friends will fondly remember the mock trial he held for them when they inadvertently messed up the garage. He also kept track of their humorous senior moments, creating cherished memories that brought laughter and warmth into their lives.

Beyond his professional achievements and personal humor, Joe made significant contributions to the community. He volunteered with Dare to Care for an impressive span of 30 years, displaying unwavering compassion towards those in need. A.C.T.S., another organization close to Joe's heart, benefited from his dedicated service. In recognition of his exceptional commitment to helping others, President Bush honored Joe with Points of Light. Furthermore, he was nominated for the prestigious WHAS Community Service Bell Award and was proudly inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Notably known for his passion for golfing, Joe was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time on the green with friends and family. His love for the game led him to take on the role of the head of the Senile 16, a group that formed meaningful connections through their shared enthusiasm. Joe's vibrant spirit and genuine camaraderie enriched the lives of those around him and fostered lifelong friendships.

A distinguished air force reservist, Joe's military service was honored when he received the distinction of Airman of the Year in 1955. His dedication to serving his country was a testament to his selflessness and unwavering patriotism.

Joe's final moments were spent surrounded by his cherished family, who provided him with comfort and love as he peacefully transitioned to his eternal rest. The void he leaves behind is immeasurable, but his memory will forever be kept alive through the countless lives he touched.
