James Berry Texas, Sr.

James Berry Texas Sr., of Crestwood, died Saturday, September 9, 2023 at home with his sister Dena Head and niece Kim Eichenberger at his side. He was born in Louisville, Ky, September 9, 1938 the son of the late Frank & Ethel Texas. He is preceded by his wife Eulene Texas, brother Benny Texas, son James Texas Jr., step-son Lance Barnhill and step-daughter Belinda Broyles. He had been a store manager for Winn Dixie for over 30 years. He also worked at Doll’s Market and after retiring worked part time for the Oldham County School system. He was an avid fisherman, loved to play golf and at one time was a ballroom dancer. He leaves behind 1 son, David Texas and two step-daughters Debi Phillips and Shelley Barnhill, brothers Frank Texas and Nolan Texas, sisters Joyce Luxemburger and Dena Head, grandchildren, Hanna Stegall, Ashton Texas, Connor Texas and great grandson Jensen Stegall. A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held 12:00pm Wednesday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd., visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00am until service time.
