Iva Short

Iva Lee Short, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 surrounded by family at her home.
Iva was born in Isom, KY on January 18, 1926 to the late Orbin and Lucinda Amburgey Hammonds. She was a Baptist by faith, enjoyed quilting and baking her one of a kind wedding cakes for many area couples. Iva was a hardworking woman; not only did she devote her time raising her family alongside her husband,Orben Short, she was retired from the US Postal Service, where she had been a clerk and Post Master.
Along with her husband; left to carry on her beautiful memory are her children, Bobbyetta , Jim (Donna) and Jack (Kathy) Short; sisters, Sue Gudkese and Pat McCubbins; brothers, Gene and Teddy Hammonds; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Iva will be held at 1pm Friday, August 15, 2014 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Road, with interment to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
