Harold Dowell

Harold "Jr." Dowell, 75, died Friday July 12, 2013 at the Hosparus Care Center. Born in Irvington, Ky. September 9, 1937 he is the son of the late Harold & Martha Vangrift Dowell Sr.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, member of the Grace Baptist Church in LaGrange, the UAW #862 and retired after 35 years with the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Dowell was an avid NASCAR,NFL and U of L fan but his family was his life, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Andy Dowell (Anna) and Tony Dowell, 3 sisters; Louise Kelly, Nancy Barnsfather (Curt), Patsy Wilson (Jim), 5 brothers; Lemor (Rosalie), Henry (Peggy), Bobby (Susie), Carl (Debbie) and Donnie (Sydney). 4 grandchildren; Alex, Alana, Nick, Natalie and 1 great grandchild, Braylee, also survive. He was preceded in death by his life partner of 25 years, Shirley Ford.
A service celebrating Jr.'s life will be held 11:00 am Tuesday July 16th at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd.
