Dolores Lee Kennedy

December 12, 1931 — March 3, 2024

Ms. Dolores Lee Yunt Kennedy, nee Thompson, born December 12, 1931, passed away March 3, 2024. Dolores was a retired employee of the Jefferson Community Technical College System and Norton Hospital Louisville as a medical librarian. As a lifelong hobby and boasted way of life, Dolores was an Allbreed Judge for the American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA, acfacat.com), an organization founded more than 65 years ago for those who love felines. Dolores was one of the first designees of “Veteran Judge” in that organization’s long history and had national award-winning Burmese and Bombay cats of her own and others that she shared with treasured friends.

How do you sum up the life of a person who lived 92 years? Dolores was fortunate enough to travel the world and have the benefit of many good friends who congregated with her, told great stories and wove many tales about all the things life provides for us – whether unfairly or with an idea of growth underneath. Many great stories were told, and many lessons shared over more than 65 years of love and friendship with her dear friends, too many of which to mention.

Dolores leaves behind her two sons, David (Sara) and Andrew (Billy) and grandchildren, Clara, Dalton, James (Kayla), and great-grandchildren Abigail (Ash) and Kali Jean. Dolores loved the ACFA and prefers that all considerations in her memory go to benefit that non-profit. There is a Memorial Poem that is called Rainbow Bridge that offers some measure of comfort in that all the animals we have loved all our lives have a place where they go and play, know comfort and revel in each other’s company. The only interruption in their joy of completeness is when their special human crosses that Rainbow Bridge and reaches out to them. Dolores had so many cherished human and animal friends that the Rainbow Bridge will be crowded by those who guide her to a place where they cling to each other. Please send donations in her memory to the ACFA, acfacat.com.
