Charles Cork

Charles H. Cork, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 17, 2022.  He was born on October 31, 1933, to the late Shandy and Clyde (Smith) Cork in Kuttawa, Kentucky.

Charles worked for many years as a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Downey V.A. Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, until his retirement.  He was blessed in a marriage with his soulmate, Amelia Cork, for 52 wonderful years.  Together they loved Christ and raised a beautiful family together.

Charles was a Christian and absolutely loved the Lord.  He was a member of Green Castle Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir for many years.  Charles was a phenomenal man, husband, and dad.  He loved his family by encouraging them, always praying for them, and giving guidance for any situation.  Charles always spoke with a soft, encouraging voice, even when upset.  He was always an amazing provider, working diligently at multiple jobs for his family.  Charles was the perfect caregiver for his wife, Amelia, and his daughters are extremely grateful.  He set the bar for who a man should be, and the mold was broken on Thursday.  Charles will be greatly missed.

Preceding Charles in death was his daughter, Diane Grand (Dock); and his siblings, William Harrison Cork, Robert V. Cork, James Cork Hamilton, Helen Mary Cork, Edward P. (Dink) Cork, and Walter Cork.

Left behind to cherish the blessed memories of his life is his loving wife of 52 years, Amelia Cork; his daughters, Sheila Lee (Rodney), Lisa Wakefield (Bruce) and Carolynn Tipton (Wayne); his brother, Tom Cork, Sr.; his 12 grandchildren, Charles, Chase, Fonte, Nicole, Brook, Antionette, LaToya, Ayesha, Keena, Kim, Tracy, and LaVinea; along with several great and great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family members.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Charles’ homegoing will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 10AM-1PM at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Road.

Memorial donations may be made in Charles’ memory to the Green Castle Baptist Church Choir Ministry or the American Cancer Society.
