Charles Robert Allen

May 18, 1948 — December 27, 2023

Louisville

Charles Robert Allen (Charlie Bob), 75 years old, of Louisville Kentucky, passed away in his home with his loved ones by his side on December 27,2023.

Charles Robert Allen was born on May 18 1948, to Shirley Ann Bradshaw.  Charlie was raised in Benton, Kentucky by his parents Everett and Margaret Allen.  He married Gaylia Allen (Gay Howell) on February 5, 2005. Charlie had three children with Lou Anne Page; Angie L. Townsend (Billy), Robin K. Dibble (Ralph), and Matthew Allen (Lindsay). His grandchildren are, Kaile Grangier (Jerry), Regan Davidson (Cody), Joeb Bartley, Jude and Evelyn Allen. His great grandchildren are Remington Davidson (Remy), Theodore Grangier, and Louiza Davidson (LouLou). Charlie also had a love for animals, especially his miniature poodles, Elvis and Benton.

Growing up, Charlie was very outgoing and athletic.  He participated in many activities, played basketball at Benton High School and enjoyed hanging out at Kentucky Lake.  His best and lifelong friends were Ben Griffey, David Nichols, Warren French, and many other B.A.B.B.'s (Badass Boys from Benton)!

Charlie was a very hard worker and had a creative mind. He took many avenues in his career path including working at Brown Forman Distillery for several years, owning his own window treatment company (The Allen Company), and as the window treatment installation contractor for Lowe’s in the Louisville market.

Charlie was known for his friendly, outgoing personality, and being the life of the party. He always loved laughing, telling jokes, music, and dancing with his wife Gay. He enjoyed spending time cooking, gardening, and running half/full marathons.  Charlie was a proud member of Southeast Christian Church.  Charlie continued to have a joyful and happy spirit at the end, that spread to those around him.

Charlie would want to be remembered for his common phrases.  His children described them as “Charlie-isms”.  These fun philosophies are inspired by one of his favorite scriptures.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.“

James 1:2-4 NIV

Charlie had a deep love for his wife Gay, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all, Charles Robert Allen loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
