Bettie Bailes Collins of Louisville passed away February 12th, 2024, returning to her Heavenly Father. She was born in Clarkson, Kentucky on January 7th, 1945. She graduated from Spalding University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for over forty years, retiring from Home of the Innocence in Louisville, KY. She loved spending time volunteering, being one with nature, and continuing to grow her faith with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her parents, James and Marie Jeffries Bailes, and brother, Rodger Dale Bailes, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Derek (Michele) Collins, two grandchildren, Devyn and Rylan Collins, her sister, Sue Bailes Waugh, and two nieces, Tracy Waugh and Kimberly (Eddie) Hobson. She also leaves behind multiple wonderful nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Services for Bettie will be held at the Louisville Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home East, located at 11601 Ballardsville Rd, Louisville, Kentucky, on Friday, March 1st, 2024. The visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Immediately following the visitation at 3:00 PM, we will have a heartfelt Celebration of Life, with Deacon Larry McClanahan officiating, allowing friends and loved ones to pay their respects and share their fond memories of Bettie.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their beloved charity, or to a meaningful organization to Bettie and her family, the Alzheimer’s Association, at www.alz.org, in Bettie Collins' name.
