Carrie Jean Hicks passed away at her home in Prospect, KY on November 22, 2022, at the age of 85. Carrie was born on her grandfathers farm near LaGrange, KY, to Roger and Laura (McMahan) Hicks on July 19, 1937. Carrie attended Liberty Elementary School and graduated from Oldham County High School in 1955. After high school, she attended Beauticians school and practiced as a beautician, a career that she loved, for the next 50 plus years. Carrie opened her business in Prospect, at two different locations, for several years known as Carrie's Coiffure. After she closed her shop she continued to work as a beautician for various salons in the St. Matthews area. After retirement she always missed the interactions with her customers. Carrie loved her animals and always had a dog and at least one cat. She loved people but was also a very independent person . She was determined to be in the home that she grew up in until the day that she died. That she accomplished. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Hicks. She is survived by her sister, Mary Hicks; her brother, Tom Hicks (Billie); nephews, John, Bob and Matt Hicks; her niece, Virginia Huffman (Mike); great nieces, Morgan and Beth Huffman; great nephews, JT and Bobby Hicks; and her great-great nephews, Eli, Bryan and Brody Hicks. Cremation was chosen and burial will be next to her parents at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Her wish is to have a private graveside service. Anyone wanting to make a donation in Carrie's name we suggest the Oldham County Humane Society or any animal protection agency. The family would like to thank the staff at Hosparus for their support and care. We would also like to thank the caregivers from Private Duty Plug, their compassion and care towards Carrie was greatly appreciated.
