Robert "Bobby" Whitener

Robert “Bobby” Marshall Whitener, 71, passed away on Friday January 31, 2020 at the Louisville VA Medical Center in Louisville Kentucky.   Bobby was born on October 16, 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of the late Walter and Katherine Newman Whitener.  He enjoyed cooking, loved animals and spending time with his family.  Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Navy, he was a Vietnam Veteran and served aboard the USS Coral Sea.  He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Saundra Beadle, brothers, Harry (Margaret) and Terry Whitener, long time friend, Johnny Cooper, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 6:00PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd., Louisville.  A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Bobby's honor to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
